29/365 Where Am I?

Most, if not all, of you will recognise the iconic British telephone box. The keen observers amongst you will note that the two pictured here are not the usual pillar box red colour, or as we are calling it this season, pimento! Who knows where we are and why the phone boxes are not red?

25/365 One Year Late

Work has kept me in the office all day today, that is apart from a very quick trip to the Sorting Office to pick up a parcel. I haven't been able to take a photo so far today and it is getting dark now and unlikely that I will be able to get out now and shoot anything. I did find this photo which I had taken on 25 Jan 2009 so here it is just one year late. I hope that you all have a happy Burns nicht the nicht.

23/365 Not Everyone's Darling

Not everyone thinks that starlings are darlings and they can be very greedy at the feeding table but you do have to admit the their colours are quite fabulous.

18/365 Loads of Gold

Just a few short days ago one goldfinch appeared in the garden where there had been none before. Well at least I had never seen any before. At one point this morning there were  six flitting around the feeders.

13/365 Queen Vic

I do like a silhouette shot. I took this snap on the way home this evening. I will return to this theme and try and set the shot up better without the cars in the foreground.

7/365 Snow Cap

"If you are cold, tea will warm you; if you are too heated, it will cool you; if you are depressed, it will cheer you; if you are excited, it will calm you."

"Selfishness is the greatest curse of the human race."

"Be happy with what you have and are, be generous with both, and you won't have to hunt for happiness."

"We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace."

6/365 Birds Of A Feather

With the all the zeal of the newly converted I went out first thing this morning to clear away the snow from my superdeluxe bird feeder and make sure that there was plenty of food available for my little feathered friends. Despite it still being quite early I was almost instantly rewarded by a whole host of visitors. Flocks of bluetits, a dunnock or two, blackbirds, robins, starlings and sparrows. Oh and the magpie stopped by too but didn't hang around very long.

I managed to get a photo of this little chap as he perched on a branch at the bottom of the garden his red breast contrasting with the snow in the background.

5/365 Eve of the Epiphany

La Befana comes tonight to children all over Italy, bringing gifts and sweets to the ones that have been good and lumps of coal to the others. La Befana is an ugly old crone, with hooked nose and warts. But La Befana is kindly and good and reminds us that we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

1/365 Blue Moon

The new decade and the new year started with a blue moon and some fireworks. Credit for this photo goes to SLD who captured the fireworks as we brought in the new year at the Red House. I had not taken my camera!

Later on in the afternoon we took a walk by the River Dee where I managed to get some shots off before my battery went dead. Not a very auspicious start to my blog!
